Digital Scrapbooking 2

I think I’m hooked! Recently we inherited a light table and I had taken some pictures of the kids playing on it … well, the shots were dark and kinda blurry …. but I just loved the “in the moment” look – so what to do? This picture of Elina is one I decided to keep … she is totally immersed in her drawing and I had tried to capture that “glow” off the table! The digital element that really made this photo for me was the brush tool – I selected a glowing star that became the “magic” off of her “wand” …. I then figured out how to add a black border to ‘zoom in’ on her moment. I even managed to sharpen up her image ….. I’m really happy with the final result and can’t wait to learn more as I play with digital scrapbooking! (and perhaps improve my photography skills). Happy Creating! – Melinda

Digital Scrapbooking

Digital scrapbooking has caught my eye! I am brand new to the whole concept and it has been fun discovering all the new things I can do with it! Thanks to Corinne’s awesome blog – I discovered this cool new blog (to me) where I downloaded my first digital brush set!!!! Check it out!!!! They are having an awesome February Freebie every day!!! www.sistvboutique.com – my digi brush set was $1 by Melanie Moor: 7210.jpg

Ok, so here are my first digiscrap attempts:

This first picture is of my daughter – she just recently had her first haircut – 10 inches!!!! So this is a reminder of how long it was plus the “fairy wings”. She just LOVED this picture when I was done!!!!

This next one is of my son during Christmas. We were making paper star decorations. He wanted the black fairy wings but I am still too new at it to show them off on black background … he thought the pic was cool but wasn’t too sure about the “pretty” wings!

Lots of fun!!!! Go check out the freebies – it’s only through February! Happy Creating! -Melinda

Garden Angel ATD

Everywhere I look I see the lovely signs of Spring! So with that inspiration – I created my Garden Angel ATD (Artist Trading Doll). She is so fun! At first I wanted feet but as she evolved – she didn’t look right! So after I created leaf wings for her – I thought it would look nice to have garden sandal charms hanging from the center. She is now ready to watch over the new growth of Spring! Enjoy! – Melinda

A Fun Hostess Gift

hostesscandle1.jpg

Ok, so I got home at 11:30pm last night …. so didn’t get a card ready to post! ;-) However, I did get some shots of my hostess gift for the workshop! This is a fun and easy gift to make someone special! I used SU! products to create this little gem. My center on the candle comes together quickly with an On Board Blossoms & Basics Chipboard Flower with retired SU! DS Paper adhered to it – sand the edges and sponge with Chocolate Chip Ink. The center is more retired DS paper punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. I then set a jumbo eyelet in the center using my Crop-A-Dile and adhered it directly to the candle by pushing a Rhinestone Ice Brad into the candle through the center of the Jumbo Eyelet. Retired SU! ribbon from Christmas is wrapped around and holds the flower in place. My Sticky Strip keeps everything secure but for an added measure of security, I pushed in three copper brads in through the ribbon and candle. The coaster is covered with the same DS papers, sanded and edged with Chocolate Chip Ink. Fun and easy … something special for my hostess!

SU! Workshop

I’m off to hold a workshop …. then it’s rehearsal at the theatre! So hopefully by this late evening I can post what we make at the workshop! ….

More Valentine Boxes

These are the last two boxes from Valentine’s Day … I made them for my kids! Now it’s time to move onto some other things waiting to be done ….

Elina’s Valentine: I used a retired SU! butterfly for the embellishment. The heart box was embossed with the CB – Divine Swirls folder …

Jacob’s Valentine: I used the current SU! set Baroque Motifs for the embellishment and background on heart box ….

Medallion origami

The Dahlia fold that is floating around inspired me! I started out following the fold instructions and then thought it would be interesting to see it with the SU! Scallop Punch. Using the punch, one little moderation is needed to make it work …. cut a 1/4″ slit at the botton of scallop before folding. I’m still playing with the scallop to make it look like a butterfly with the dahlia fold! Fun to do! I found my instructions at Splitcoast Stampers ….

Valentine Boxes

Thank you to all my friends and family that came over last night! I am totally recharged! I think my neighbors could hear us giggling and chatting!! The little box we created came from Corinne Delis’ blog …. very fun (thanks for sharing Corinne)! I used my CB to create my felt flower on my box …. very cute! The kids had fun creating their own little valentines ….

Elina’s Valentine: Elina offered to share her Hello Kitty stamps with everyone! They thought that was very sweet ;-)

Wire Mesh Valentine Card

I was experimenting with materials for my cards and came across some wire mesh I’ve had for a few years now. It’s a different look and fun to use … (trying to use up stuff so I can go buy new!!!) The letters are part of an alphabet strip for the CB – very hard to get away from the paper once cut but somehow I got them out in one piece!

Happy Creating! – Melinda

I have friends coming over tonight to hang out! I’m soooo excited! We are going to (of course) be making valentines! I’ll post what I made tomorrow! Yeah!

Altered Tin

Although I didn’t win the contest, I had a blast creating this altered tin. I tore my stash apart looking for things to put on it! This baby has flowers, glitter, alcohol inks, paper, fabric …. EVERYTHING!
